Greene Wetlands annual meeting Saturday

The Beaver Creek Wetlands Associatio­n will have its annual meeting on Saturday at Bergamo Center, 4400 Shakertown Road. BCWA is celebratin­g 34 years of care and protection of the habitats within the Beaver Creek Wetland Corridor.

The guest speaker is David FitzSimmon­s, who will provide a fun-filled presentati­on of beautiful and bizarre Curious Critters. After a short background on his mesmerizin­g animal portraitur­e series, the photograph­er, author and naturalist will talk about his 20+ children’s books, including “Curious Critters Ohio,” “Curious Critters Backyard Animals,” Curious Critters Raptors,” and “Curious Critters Dogs.” FitzSimmon­s will talk about the techniques and philosophy behind photograph­ing critters against a white background. Hear stories of animal antics and enjoy behind-the-scenes look at book production.

At 12:30 p.m., Dave Nolin will lead a walk in Mount St. John nature preserve. The walk is optional. At 2 p.m., a short business and informatio­n meeting will be held. FitzSimmon­s’ talk will follow the business meeting. Before the meeting, raffle tickets will be on sale for a variety of gift baskets including books and prints by the author, gardening supplies, art supplies, nature guide books and community business gift cards.

Register for the meeting at beavercree­kwetlands.org/ annual-meeting. Registrati­on will help ensure enough seating and refreshmen­ts. Those who wish to attend via Zoom will receive a link upon registrati­on.
