Courageous Beauty

- STAFF REPORT

Kettering Health Cancer Care has launched a support program to help patients navigate the negative ways cancer treatment affects their physical appearance.

The program, called “Courageous Beauty,” offers monthly classes to help meet specific needs as physical appearance changes because of cancer treatment. Participants will be taught unique makeup tips, how to wear a wig and head coverings, and how to care for skin and nails during treatment. The program is also an opportunity to get support from others who are also undergoing cancer treatment.

“We are proud to offer this unique program to cancer patients,” said Ken Chaij, executive director of Oncology Services at Kettering Health. “Of all the things you lose during treatment, recognizing yourself should not be one of them.”

Courageous Beauty is offered free of charge and includes a personal cosmetic care kit. Classes are every third Monday of the month at Kettering Health Cancer Center, located at 3700 Southern Blvd.
