Central State grant
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Economic Development Administration is awarding a $3.6 million grant to Central State University, Wilberforce, to establish a Workforce & Business Development Center that will serve underserved communities in Clark, Greene and Montgomery counties. This grant is funded by the American Rescue Plan.
This investment will support the historically Black landgrant university’s efforts to provide training and entrepreneurship skills development in the form of workshops and undergraduate programs in the areas of advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, information technology and advanced data management. The economic development initiative is expected to create 300 jobs and generate $1 million in private investment.
This project is funded under EDA’s American Rescue Plan Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) program, which makes $500 million in Economic Adjustment Assistance grants available to American communities. The program will help hundreds of communities across the nation plan, build, innovate and put people back to work through construction or non-construction projects designed to meet local needs.
