Mentoring program

- STAFF REPORT

Dayton Public Schools plans to launch the Transform Career Mentoring Program, which will set up about 100 high school students at DPS with a career advisor during the 2022-23 school year.

The program is due to financial support from the AT&T Foundation and AES Ohio Foundation, DPS said.

The program, from Transform Consulting, a Cincinnati-based education consulting firm, is working with the Office of Cultural Engagement & Inclusion at DPS and will match each participating 10th or 11th grader with a volunteer mentor from Dayton businesses or organizations.

The mentor will work with the mentee through the student’s high school career and help with career choices, schooling, employers and overcoming barriers. Mentors and mentees are expected to connect every week for a minimum of five minutes.
