Suspect in shooting, SWAT standoff ID’d
Dayton police identified a man suspected in a shooting that led to a six-hour standoff on Wednesday.
Police said that the suspect is 44-year-old Johnny Trigg Jr., who is believed to be armed.
The standoff began early Wednesday after a report of a shooting in the 1700 block of West Stewart Street around 6:40 a.m.
A neighbor reportedly shot a man and then went inside an apartment, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.
Emergency crews took a man to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Dayton police Maj. Christopher Malson, adding that the suspect and victim know each other and had been in an argument for the last two weeks.
SWAT was outside the apartment until 1:15 p.m., deploying tear gas and a flash bang device, as well as a drone and a robot.
Trigg was not taken into custody.
