Death penalty trial set for fall

The trial for a man accused of shooting and killing four family members in a West Chester Twp. apartment is likely set for October.

Gurpreet Singh, 39, is charged with four counts of aggravated murder, with specificat­ions of using a firearm, for the April 2019 homicides. He is accused of killing his wife, his in-laws and his aunt by marriage at their residence on Wyndtree Drive.

If convicted, Singh could face the death penalty.

Singh was in Butler County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday for a pretrial hearing, where both legal teams said preparatio­n for an Oct. 3 trial is ongoing.

Judge Greg Howard said he will order 150 prospectiv­e jurors for the first day of selection, and another 150 for the second day if necessary.
