Gift to boost project
The village of Covington will receive $100,000 from the Roy J. Weikert Trust to help build the Roy J. Weikert Amphitheater planned for the new Schoolhouse Park.
The trust was established by Weikert so his estate could benefit designated local organizations important to him in his hometown. Weikert was founder, president and CEO of General Films Inc., a custom plastics manufacturer that has been in the village for 75 years.
The Schoolhouse Park is the first new park in the village in more than 100 years.
