VANDALIA (Nov. 3) — Police were called to the area of Waffle House where they found a man passed out asleep in the grass. When they were able to wake up the man, he handed an officer an empty whiskey bottle he pulled from his pocket. Police said the man said he was waiting for a bus but later found the ticket he had was for the previous day. The man eventually was jailed.

ENGLEWOOD (Oct. 31) — A vehicle license plate check led police to stop vehicle bearing a plate that had been reported missing by its owner. The vehicle driver attended to elude police before stopping. The female driver was found to have a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear out of Huber Heights. She was jailed after family members arrived to take two young children she had with her, riding in the back seat.

ENGLEWOOD (Oct. 25) — Police were called to Skyline around 6 p.m. on a report of a possibly intoxicate­d man. They found a car parked in the middle of the exit lane with the driver eating a bowl of chili. The man said he didn’t realize he wasn’t in a parking space. The man was asked several questions, which he had difficulty answering, police said. They reported seeing two bottles of vodka in the vehicle and damage along the passenger side that appeared to have been incurred recently. The man said he didn’t recall hitting anything. Police conducted field sobriety tests, which the man failed. He was charged with failure to maintain physical control of a motor vehicle and taken to a hospital for a medical check.

PIQUA (Nov. 22) — A driver led a Miami County sheriff ’s deputy on a chase after failing to stop when the deputy activated overhead emergency lights and audible sirens. A short pursuit followed before the vehicle stopped in the area of Maplewood Drive and Park Avenue around 5 a.m. The driver was charged with fleeing and eluding, speeding, stop sign violation and driving without a proper license.
