From snow plowing to arts and speakers, city stays busy

- By John Agenbroad

Winter weather is here. Our area has experienced snow and ice events over the past few weeks — and like always, the Springboro Service Department immediately responded by salting and plowing to keep our roads safe.

The grateful response from our community was immediate and overwhelming as well. Our citizens and businesses thanked our crews for working through these roundthe-clock events with appreciative messages on social media and by delivering or providing food.

Thank you all for supporting the best team around. We also appreciate that our residents followed our snow removal guidelines and cleared their streets of parked cars so we could get the job done — curb to curb.

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean your city is slowing down. I invite you to stop by the Springboro Performing Arts Center at Wright Station, where our featured artist, Lawal Said, is showcasing his colorful portraits, landscapes and abstracts. Please join us at a reception in his honor from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 25. Exhibit hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Feb. 25.

On Feb. 20, our Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee’s Next Destination Speaker Series features Dr. Jocelyn Hardman and her travels on the St. Cuthbert Way in Scotland and England at 6:30 p.m. in the Springboro Performing Arts Center. In addition, our wellness program and scavenger hunts in the parks are offered each month. Visit our website, www.ci.springboro.oh.us for details on these events and more.

Springboro offers numerous options for shopping, dining and services. Choosing local and supporting Springboro-businesses helps keep jobs and tax dollars in our community. Thank you for your continued support.

I wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day! It is indeed an honor to serve as your mayor. See you around town!
