School Hall of Honor inductees named

The Fairborn City Schools’ annual Hall of Honor program will be held on April 28 in the Fairborn High School auditorium at 7 p.m.

The following individual­s will be inducted into the Hall of Honor Class of 2023. The community is welcome to join in to honor their accomplish­ments:

■ Steven B. Edwards: 1982 Baker High School graduate; earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Cincinnati. Currently senior vice president of marketing at Winsupply Distributi­ng Company in Dayton.

■ Edward L. Gibbons: Former teacher, principal and director of business affairs, personnel and technology at Fairborn City Schools; earned a bachelor’s degree from Cedarville College and a master’s degree from Wright State University.

■ Linda Riney Haisley: 1971 Baker graduate; earned a certified medical assistant license; has worked at Greene Memorial, Dayton Children’s and Kettering Hospitals.

■ Sean P. Kelly: 1997 Fairborn High School graduate; earned bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in the music field; associate professor of music and director of athletic bands at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

■ Wendi Williams Kirsch: 1975 Baker graduate; earned a bachelor degree in Arizona; was the GRADS coordinato­r and teacher at the Greene County Career Center and the co-advisor of FHS’ senior classes.

■ Glenn V. Oakley: 1973 Baker graduate; earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana; freelance writer and photograph­er for magazines and books; has also produced short films.

■ Retired Col. Roger “Tug” Thornberry: 1960 FHS graduate; earned degrees at the Army War College; served 27 years of active duty in the Army and the Army Central Command.
