Buckeyes land commitments from pair over spring game weekend
Ohio State picked up a pair of verbal commits during the weekend of the spring game.
Max LeBlanc, a tight end from Tennessee, and Sam Williams-Dixon, a running back set to play for Pickerington North this fall, both announced their decisions Saturday.
“As I think about growing up and dreaming of attending the best university and playing football for the best team in the land, I continue to reflect on my village’s sacrifices and my determination to make them proud,” Williams-Dixon wrote on social media. “With that being said I could like to announce that I bleed scarlet and gray! I’m committing to The Ohio State University, my hometown school!”
Williams-Dixon was a standout at Millersburg West Holmes last season but has transferred to one of Ohio’s top football programs for his senior year.
He told bucknuts.com he grew up in Columbus and attended a middle school that feeds into Eastmoor Academy, the alma mater of legendary Ohio State running back Archie Griffin in 1972.
“I’m a big fan of Archie Griffin,” Williams-Dixon told the site. “He’s a great back from a Columbus city school. I want to be the next one.”
The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Williams-Dixon is rated as an “athlete” and could play running back, slot receiver or a mix of the two at Ohio State.
He is the No. 24 prospect in 247Sports Composite rankings and became the 12th member of Ohio State’s 2024 recruiting class, which is ranked second in the country behind Georgia and one spot ahead of Michigan.
He is the fifth Ohioan to join the class and the second running back, joining fourstar prospect James Peoples of San Antonio.
LeBlanc was No. 11 when he announced his commitment Saturday afternoon.
He is a four-star prospect who attends the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The 6-4, 222-pounder is ranked 13th in the nation at his position and sixth in his home state, which has produced five Buckeyes signees since 2018 after none for decades.
