Contributions of custodial professionals honored in inaugural learning event
This month, the Dayton Area School Operations group (DASO) hosted an inaugural Custodian Professional Development Day at West Carrollton Intermediate School. More than 150 custodial professionals participated in the learning event that provided a unique opportunity to enhance skills, expand knowledgeand provide connections.
Dedicating a day for this professional development was one way for DASO to express appreciation for the contributions of custodians to school districts, students and staff. Area operations leaders recognized the long-overdue need to invest in their professional growth and development, and this event marked a significant step toward fulfilling that commitment.
Sessions covered a diverse range of relevant topics, including effective communication strategies, the crucial partnership between custodians, principals and food service managers in maintaining a safe environment, post-COVID cleaning strategies and plans, open discussions on various subjects of interest, an overview of HVAC systems and strategies for creating positive impressions in public spaces.
In addition, the event featured practical training sessions and demonstrations focused on floor care and streamlining cleaning processes in classrooms and bathrooms, among other topics.
