Assistant principal at Trotwood-Madison High School
Responsibilities: Works to support academic excellence by promoting a safe and welcoming environment. Supporting student emotional well-being and family/school relationships is a priority. Doctoral thesis focused to explain the impact of social media and COVID-19 on the emotional intelligence of black girls during their unique adolescent experience.
Background: 1991 — Dunbar High School, choir, volleyball captain and 1st team allcity senior year; 1996 — Central State University, Bachelor of Science in secondary education and English; 2002 — Antioch University, master’s degree and principal’s license; 2023 — University of Dayton, doctorate in organizational leadership.
Educational and work connection: The rigorous experience of conducting research to earn a doctorate enables me to align resources, collect and analyze data about support for all students while understanding the unique factors that female students of color experience as they gain an understanding of emotional self-awareness. The overall aim is to improve school culture by improving teaching and learning experiences for all students.
Administrative focus: The science of educating students includes placing value in being inclusive and equitable. Meeting students and their families where they are to build positive, meaningful relationships lends itself to creating the trust that is needed to help students grow and seek success.
