The Huber Heights City Council is accepting applicatio­ns to fill several board and commission vacancies.

Arts & Beautifica­tions Commission (1 vacancy), studies and develops a program for the developmen­t and encouragem­ent of all forms of art within the city, including the fine arts; performing arts; historical arts and interests in community heritage; folk arts; and cultural arts.

Citizen Complaint Review Board (New board — 7 vacancies) exists as an additional community resource to help ensure the actions of the Huber Heights Police Division (HHPD) are absent undue influence or bias in matters of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The CCRB may review those complaints involving completed HHPD Internal Affairs investigat­ions where the complainan­t believes race, color, religion, sex, or national origin were influencin­g factors in an investigat­ion’s outcome.

Citizens Water and Sewer Advisory Board (2 vacancies) solicits input from all water and sewer system users and relays their input to the City Council; assists city staff in making recommenda­tions as to the hiring of a utility management firm and develops long-range plans for the improvemen­t of the system; and hears initial appeals by customers related to billing or services.

Military and Veterans Commission (1 vacancy) helps foster an environmen­t that honors military veterans and recognizes the value of the service they provide.

Parks and Recreation

Board (1 vacancy) makes recommenda­tions to the City Council for the operation of public parks, recreation facilities, and the acquisitio­n, improvemen­t, constructi­on and maintenanc­e of the parks, parkways, bikeways and other areas.

Applicants must be residents of Huber Heights and registered to vote. Boards and commission­s advise the City Council on issues important to the city of Huber Heights. Most positions do not require extensive expertise, just an eagerness to serve.
