City accepting applications for board vacancies
The Huber Heights City Council is accepting applications to fill several board and commission vacancies.
The Arts & Beautifications Commission (one vacancy) studies and develops a program for the development and encouragement of all forms of art within the city, including the fine arts; performing arts; historical arts and interests in community heritage; folk arts; and cultural arts.
The Citizen Complaint Review Board (seven vacancies) exists as an additional community resource to help ensure the actions of the Huber Heights Police Division (HHPD) are absent undue influence or bias in matters of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The CCRB may review those complaints involving completed HHPD Internal Affairs investigations where the complainant believes race, color, religion, sex, or national origin were influencing factors in an investigation’s outcome.
The Citizens Water and Sewer Advisory Board (two vacancies) solicits input from all water and sewer system users and relays their input to the City Council. It assists city staff in making recommendations as to the hiring of a utility management firm and develops long-range plans for the improvement of the system; and hears initial appeals by customers related to billing or services.
The Military and Veterans Commission (two vacancies) was established to help foster an environment that honors military veterans and recognizes the value of the service they provide.
The Parks and Recreation Board (three vacancies) makes recommendations to the City Council for the operation of public parks, recreation facilities, and the acquisition, improvement, construction and maintenance of the parks, parkways, bikeways and other areas.
Applicants for these roles must be residents of Huber Heights and registered to vote. Boards and commissions advise the City Council on issues important to the city of Huber Heights. Most positions do not require extensive expertise, just an eagerness to serve.
Applications will be accepted until April 12 and can be picked up at the Huber Heights City Hall or from the city of Huber Heights website, www.hhoh.org/281/ Board-Commission-Service.
