Muse Machine: Be inspired at Northridge
Muse Machine is an arts club that allows students to see artists live here at school. A few times a year, various artists come to our district to put on performances which are free for students. Performances this year have included musicians/recording artists, a short opera show by Dayton Opera, and dancing by Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
A show coming later this year is an engaging show that’s a kid-friendly way to experience Shakespeare, put on by the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Our students have enjoyed these performances and look forward to them year after year.
Student members and parent chaperones also get the chance to purchase discounted show tickets to several excellent shows presented by both the Schuster Center and Victoria Theater. This year some of our members have seen “How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical,” and “Hip Hop Nutcracker.” Some students are going to see “The Lion King” in May.
These shows spark a conversation about art in our community and often inspire students to pursue the arts.
Muse Machine is a wonderful asset to this school district. It gives the community an opportunity to observe other perspectives and relate to different forms of art.
We strive to make sure it continues for many years to come.
