Disantis sets the bar high at RollHouse with an 878 series
Strike after strike after strike — 29 to be exact Joey Disantis was on the mark at RollHouse Dayton, posting a city-high 878 series.
From the midway point of the first game through the final frame of third game, the 20-year-old didn’t miss as he finished the night with 279-300299 — 878 in the King’s Trio League — matching his personal high series, recorded more than a year ago.
“After I shot the 300, I thought ‘sweet, let’s see if I can keep this going,’” Disantis said. “I knew I had a chance to beat my high series by one.”
A stubborn 4-pin in the final frame dashed his hopes, but not his good night on the lanes.
“I feel like anytime you’re over 800 or you bowl a 300 game, it’s a great night,” Disantis said.
Disantis has had quite a few of those “great nights” as the Huber Heights bowler now has at least 25 perfect games and 20 800 series to his credit. As a senior at Wayne High School, he broke the school record for high two-game series, 300-279 – 579, and now has his sights set on the RollHouse Dayton house record of 885 recorded by Kevin Adams more than a decade ago.
Disantis has come a long way from the excited 5-year-old who tagged along with his dad to the bowling center. Breaking house records, however, is only one item on his lengthy bowling bucket list.
“I want to become a pro bowler,” he said. “I’m looking at getting my pro card soon and getting into some PBA regionals.”
In the meantime, Disantis is working on his game, participating in five leagues a week, and competing in as many tournaments as he can.
“I know the touring pros bowl a lot of games, so I’m working on building up my stamina,” he said.
Disantis will soon head to Las Vegas to compete in the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships.
