A 36-year-old man reportedly fired at least 40 shots in a weekend shooting that killed an 18-year-old in Dayton.

Isaiah DeAnthony Wood, of Dayton, is facing two counts each of murder, felonious assault and discharge of a firearm, as well as four counts of having weapons while under disability and one count each of tampering with evidence and improper discharge of a firearm, according to Dayton Municipal Court records.

The gunshot victim was identified as Larod Allen DeLong by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Dayton police responded shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday to a report of a person shot in the 2400 block of Auburn Avenue.

A 911 caller reported hearing gunshots and said someone was lying in the street, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.

“Upon arrival officers located the victim, an 18-year-old male, who was pronounced as deceased at the scene,” said Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer.

While canvassing the area investigators found more than 40 spent bullet casings near the front door of a house, where they detained the people inside.

One of the residents provided police with doorbell video footage that showed Wood come out of the house and fire more than 40 shots at people running away from the area, according to court documents.

“DeLong was struck by two of the four shots, and after the shooting, Wood reentered the residence,” an affidavit read.

Investigators found four handguns inside the home. The one believed to be used during the shooting was found altered in a kitchen cabinet, according to court records. A drum-style magazine was found in a small storage bin in an adjoining room.

The Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting.

Wood was arrested early Saturday morning and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
