Fire Division: Recruits, retirement, promotion

- Contributed

The Huber Heights Fire Division welcomed 2024 with the hiring of three new probationary firefighter/paramedics to its ranks. HHFD hired firefighters Harley Wells, Kanyon Schall and Luke Sorensen in January. Firefighters Wells, Schall and Sorensen bring various years of service from surrounding departments to the HHFD.

While HHFD said hello to some new faces, the division said farewell to another employee who provided Huber Heights with more than three decades of service. Lt. Andrew Rammel officially retired this year after serving the city of Huber Heights and its residents for 32 years. Lt. Rammel was instrumental in maintaining the Division’s Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA’s) and had a hand in helping plan and spec all the fire apparatus that hit the roads in Huber Heights. The Huber Heights Fire Division held a retirement party for Lt. Rammel to allow everyone to say goodbye and thank you this past February.

Lt. Rammel’s departure would lead to a new promotion to the rank of Lieutenant for Adam Temple. Lt. Temple was promoted on Feb. 29 after serving as a firefighter with the division for the previous nine years and serving as a Firefighter in Charge for the previous year. Lt Temple’s promotion is only the first of seven anticipated promotions this year due to the growth of the Huber Heights Fire Division and the city of Huber Heights.

Residents can keep up with the Huber Heights Fire Division on their Facebook page (facebook.com/HHOHFireDivision) or by following them on Instagram @HuberHeightsFireDivision. Also, save the date for the Fire Division’s Annual Open House from 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at Station 22, 7008 Brandt Pike. There will be live demonstrations, activities for the whole family, station tours and much more. Mark your calendars and don’t miss this fun event.
