South Adams vs Randolph Southern

Conner Young continued his strong season on the mound with five one-hit innings against Randolph Southern while striking out five as the Starfires shut out the Rebels 8-0 Wednesday night.

The only hit allowed by Young in his five innings of work came with two outs in the third and by the time he left the mound, the Stars had staked him to a seven-run lead.

Kyle Minger had a strong day from the leadoff spot for the Stars, picking up three hits and scoring twice.

A.J. Dull had an RBI double and scored twice.

Nathan Muselman struck out three in two innings of relief work, walking just one and allowing one hit.

South Adams vs Jay County Softball

The Jay County Patriots chased South Adams starter Gracy Bixler in the second inning, scoring eight runs off four hits and crushing three home runs to beat the Starfires, 8-3.

Olivia Bright hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first and then a two-run bomb in the second. Freshman Mallory Winner added a two-run dinger in between the two Bright homers.

South Adams did score twice in the top of the second with RBI-hits by Bixler and Vivian O’Dell, but they only scored once more in the game when Sofia Schwartz scored on a Carlie Sealscott hit after doubling.

Peyton Pries pitched the rest of the game for South Adams and allowed five hits in 4.1 scoreless innings, striking out three.

Haleigh Clayton racked up 12 strikeouts for Jay County and allowed seven hits, walking just once.
