Donald Patrick “Pat” Teeple, 84, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Adams Woodcrest. He was born on April 22, 1938 in Decatur, the son of the late David H. and Berneta A. (Reynolds) Teeple. On August 8, 1959, he married Theresa R. Laurent and she preceded him in death on January 31, 2006.

He was a lifelong parishione­r of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. In his youth he went to St. Joseph Catholic School and was a 1957 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School. Over the years he had served as an Extraordin­ary Minister of Holy Communion, Lector, and was in the St. Mary’s Choir. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864 and the Holy Name Society.

Pat was in the trucking business his entire life when he began working for his father at the age of 15 and eventually became a part-owner and operator of Teeple Truck Lines. He then was a sales manager for multiple trucking companies and ended his over 50-year career when he retired from R & L Trucking.

He served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves. He was a former member of American Legion Post 43 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1311. He was an avid card player and enjoyed fishing.

Pat is survived by 2 sons, Patrick J. (Jean) Teeple and Kenneth E. (Paula) Teeple both of Decatur; 6 daughters, Sharon T. Teeple of Evansville, Susan C. (Richard) Neff of Decatur, Mary L. (Steve) Pilkington of Decatur, Charlotte A. (Steven) Feller of Saline, MI, Christina M. Teeple of Nashville, TN, and Laura R. (Mike) Macke of Decatur; a son-inlaw, Jeff Landis of Waterloo; a sister, Marilyn Roop of Decatur; 12 grandchild­ren and 8 great grandchild­ren with 1 on the way.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet K. Landis on June 1, 2016; 2 brothers, Raymond Teeple and Richard Teeple; 2 sisters, Joyce Ensign and Catherine Spiegel.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father David Ruppert officiatin­g. Burial will take place immediatel­y following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Masses, St. Vincent De Paul Society, or St. Joseph Catholic School.
