Adams Central claims ACAC title

A hard-fought win over Jay County Friday handed Adams Central the ACAC title with a 3-2 victory over the Patriots.

Jessica and Hillary Tobias won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respective­ly, and the No. 2 doubles team of Maddie Herring and Alayana McCullough found a break of serve in each of their first two sets to win 6-4, 6-4.

The team then traveled to Concordia Saturday to participat­e in an individual tournament and finished in fourth place.

All three county tennis teams were ready for the IHSAA’s announceme­nt of the state tournament draw Monday night. Play will begin Wednesday at Norwell.

Play will begin Wednesday with Norwell the heavy favorite to win this year’s team title after beating Adams Central 4-1 earlier this season.
