Adams Central Baseball vs. Southern Wells

Braysen Yergler threw five innings of one-hit ball to beat Southern Wells 13- 2 as Trevor Currie inflicted maximum damage against the Raiders with four singles and four runs batted in.

The Raiders scored without a hit in the second after a hit batsmen and a couple of errors, but the Jets put together a big rally in the next inning, highlighted by a basesclearing triple by Blake Heyerly, who later scored on one of Currie’s singles.

The only hit of the game for Southern Wells came from Branson Rheinhart to lead off the third and after Yergler’s fourth walk of the contest, Southern Wells made it 4-2 with a well-placed groundout.

The Starfires brought the ten-run rule into play in the top of the fifth with eight runs as they batted around and Trevor Currie had two RBI hits in the frame.

Heyerly finished 2 for 3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while leadoff hitter Alex Currie was 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Jaren Hildebrand also had two hits.

South Adams Baseball vs Monroe Central

There wasn’t much that went right for the South Adams Starfires Monday when they hosted Monroe Central. The Golden Bears scored 14 runs in the second inning and had a nohitter through 4.2 innings and a full count before two bloop singles cost the visitors a shutout in a 16-1 victory.

Lane Wilson started for Monroe Central, striking out three. The only baserunner of the game for South Adams came from a walk until Owen Wanner doubled to left on a full count with two outs in the fourth. Nate Muselman knocked him in with a similar hit, but it was all the offense the Stars could muster.

The second inning was a disastrous one for Conner Young as he walked five batters in the inning and allowed two triples, leaving the game after walking in a run to go down 6-0.

Kaden Davidson entered the game and did not record an out, allowing a triple, a walk on four pitches and a home run to Aidyn Coffey, allowing all three inherited runners to score.

Colin Subler was handed the ball and he replicated Davidson, giving up a three-run homer, before getting the final out. At that point, the Starfires trailed 15-0.

Coffey added another home run in the fourth.

The loss dropped South Adams’ record to 10-11.

Macy Pries and Lily Patterson, batting at opposite ends of the lineup, each had four hits, while Makayla Hamrick finished 3 for 3.

Carlie Sealscott drove in five runs and Shea Alberson scored four times as a courtesy runner for catcher Sofia Schwartz, who had a 2 for 3 night with a walk.

The Starfires tagged Southern Wells starter Maddy Sutton for 16 earned runs in 1.2 innings of work.

South Adams moved to 10-11 on the season and 2-4 in the ACAC with the victory.
