Sectional Champ Van De Weg signs to run with Purdue Fort Wayne

Adams Central senior Marissa Van De Weg, who won Tuesday’s sectional in the 100 M hurdles (pictured, left), signed her letter of intent Monday to continue her running career at Purdue Fort Wayne.

Van De Weg was joined (right) by her father, Ryan, and mother, Christa, at her signing. Also pictured are track coaches Tayia Meadows and Tony Oliver.

A three-sport star for the Jets, Marissa has been a vital part of the cross country, basketball and track teams in her four years and has won numerous accolades. Her track and field season ended at the State Finals last year and she has a shot at extending her high school career as far as possible with another trip to state in a few weeks.

Van De Weg will focus on her sprints and hurdles and compete for the PFW Track & Field team.
