UNIONDALE— Adams Central won at No. 2 doubles in three sets to hold off Huntington North by a 3-2 margin Thursday night as the Norwell tennis sectional finally got underway.

Meanwhile, Bluffton swept South Adams to advance to Friday’s semifinals. The Starfires failed to win a set in any of their five matches. Alayna McCullough ( pic

“With it coming down to them as the deciding point, you could tell they were a little nervous,” admitted coach Jessica Disinger after the win. “But then in the last three games of the third set they realized they had to go or the season was over. They played great at the end.”

The Jets other two wins came at No. 1 and No. 2 singles from Jessica and Hillary Tobias. The sisters won in straight sets.
