Ed Alspaugh, 82, of Decatur, Indiana passed away January 14, 2023 at his residence, following a five month battle with stage IV cancer.

On October 30, 1960, Ed married Sally S. Imel in Tocsin, Indiana and they shared almost 50 years together before her passing on August 1, 2010. He then married Cindy Smith on July 18, 2013, in Townsend, Tennessee and she preceded him in death on October 10, 2021.

He is survived by son, Curt (Carla) Alspaugh of Craigville, Indiana; three daughters, Collette (Jerry) Hurst, Colleen (Jim) Cole, and Claudine (Josh) Girard all of Decatur, Indiana; daughter-inlaw, Machelle Alspaugh of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Jeanette (Jerry) Rumple of Decatur, Indiana; 11 grandchild­ren, Celeste (Caleb) Rupel, Brittney (Dan) Killion, Brenna (Nick) Dillion, Cody (Courtney) Hurst, Caleb Hurst, Christophe­r (Audrey) Hurst, Cy (Maddi) Hurst, Chance (Nick) Leary, Callager Cole, Carston Girard, and Brant Girard; and 13 great-grandchild­ren, Adrianna, Ripley, Tyson, Naomi, Laini, Remington, Easton, Harlow, Oliver, Houston, Layla, Lizah, and Beckett.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved son, Clark Kent Alspaugh on July 25, 2022; and sister, Gloria (Don) Black.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2023, at New Hope Church in Decatur. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangemen­ts are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
