Dull prepares for fifth term

Ron Dull filed last week to run for the City of Berne District 4 City Council position in the 2023 local election. Ron is the four term Berne District 4 City Councilman having been elected to this position for the first time in the 2007 election and was re-elected to this position in 2011, 2015, and 2019. As a Berne City Councilman during the past 15 years, Ron has been involved with the Park Board where he served as President for seven years. Ron has also served on the Board of Public Works and Safety Board the past eleven years in addition to all regular City Council roles and responsibi­lities he has been chartered with during his time in office.

Ron is married to Celia Dull and they are the proud parents of five children: Amber, Drew, TJ, Hannah, and AJ. Celia is employed by IU Health and is a Medical Informatio­n Coder. Amber is married to Scott Steiner and they are the proud parents of four children, Gabe, Grady, Gerrick, and Graylynn. Drew is married to Julie and they have three children, Vivienne, Sadie, and Camden. TJ is married to Katlyn (Moses) and they reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Hannah is a Senior at Bethel University and is studying Elementary Education and AJ is a Freshman at Indiana Tech studying Finance. Ron is the son of the late Tom Dull and late Neva Pharr and Derryle Pharr is Ron’s Stepfather. Ron was a 1980 Graduate of South Adams High School and also a graduate of Purdue University where he achieved both an Associate of Science and a Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Computer Science.

Ron recently retired after working 40 years in the Informatio­n Technology and Telecommun­ications Industry with GTE, Verizon, and Frontier Telecommun­ications. Ron was a leader in Informatio­n Technology management for over 35 years and managed groups of employees ranging from small groups of five to ten employees, up to groups as large as 100 employees. Ron was also a skilled and detailed Project Manager for many years of his career.

Ron and Celia are active members of the First Missionary Church in Berne where Ron is the leader of the FMC “Love Food” team and a past Church Treasurer and Church Board member. Ron has also served on the Adams County Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors for the past 12 years where he has been active on many key sub-committees and has been the leader of the local B&G Annual Campaign fundraisin­g efforts the past eleven years. Ron has also been the Adams County leader the past nine years for the Indiana Honor and Remember Chapter and has coordinate­d the Run for the Fallen that has traveled through Adams County each year since 2013. In addition, Ron is a long time member of the Swiss Heritage Society and the local Sons of the American Legion Post 468 Chapter.

Ron has enjoyed the opportunit­ies and challenges he has been presented with as Berne’s District 4 City Councilman the past 15 years. Ron has looked at his City Council position as an opportunit­y to “give back to” and support the city he loves. “Berne is the place I have chosen over the past 40 years since my college graduation to live in and raise a family in.”
