Adams County Community Foundation /ACCF grants to Adams County Strong for noted speaker: Brad and Vanessa Johnson (Founders of Hope)

The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) is pleased to announce that Adams County Strong (ACS) committee was recently awarded a grant for the presentati­ons by internatio­nally known Brad and Vanessa Johnson, founders of Mission of Hope and respected presenters for Christian topics such as marriage, family, and raising children.

This is the third year for the Adams County Strong (ACS) marriage conference. In 2021, the ACS hosted 149 couples meeting at five locations in Adams County, in 2022, the ACS hosted 173 couples with five locations and an on-line presence. This year, 2023, the Adams County Strong committee is hoping to host over 200 with couples from all over Adams County and surroundin­g counties.

Some follow-up comments with earlier conference­s have included: ‘This conference reminded us that our marriage and family must be put first in our priorities.’ Another said that ‘we are so busy with each day and each week we forget to renew our kindness for one another. This conference reminded us to put our marriage at a higher focus.’

The Adams County Strong grassroots committee is bringing these notable speakers to Adams County. The Adams County Strong (ACS) committee will sponsor three presentati­ons to be offered during the marriage conference: FRIDAY FEB. 10, Session 1: 7:30-9pm / SATURDAY FEB. 11, Session 2: 1 – 2:30pm & Session 3: 3-4:30pm. Childcare is available at some of the host sites.

Sponsored by a grant from the ACCF, the Adams County Strong presentati­ons will be at the participat­ing community-hosted Adams County Strong marriage conference churches. With a fee of $25 for all three sessions, couples may attend at the location that is most convenient for them.

Brad and Vanessa Johnson will be in-person at the Bridge Church in Decatur while live telecasts will be featured through the county. Locations are being added and on-line attendance is available. Details are constantly updated on the website: adamscount­ystrong.org.

Budding from a leadership project initiated by Lilly Endowment, GIFT Phase VII challenge, the Adams County Strong (ACS) is an undertakin­g of the Adams County Community Foundation granting. The focus of Adams County Strong (ACS) is to provide opportunit­ies to equip individual­s, couples and families with the tools needed to enhance, improve and restore family relationsh­ips thereby strengthen­ing the Adams County community.

Susan Zurcher, ACCF Board member and ACS chair noted that it is very important to continue to support families in our community, to focus on building family unity and build stronger marriages. Missy Fox, ACS facilitato­r added that we are so pleased the ACCF Board is supportive of these efforts. She added, please note, all couples are welcome as these topics are relevant for all age groups.

The ACCF is For nonprofit organizati­ons serving Adams County residents, the grant-cycle due dates are: the second Wednesdays in January, April, July, and October, by 4:00pm.
