ACCF awards grant to Erin’s House
The Adams County Community Foundation recently awarded a grant to Erin’s House for Grieving Children. The organization provides support services for children, teens and their families who have suffered the death of a loved one. These services are performed in peer-support program nights, classroom companions, camps and retreats, summer programs, and phone support. Erin’s House also provides grief books and journals to each family when they start programming.
Leslie Augustyniak, Executive Director for Erin’s House and grant writer, expressed her appreciation to the ACCF for this support, which provided grief support services to four families and a total of sixteen individuals in Adams County. One parent noted that Erin’s House has been such a big help for their daughter and a relief for them stating, “My daughter loves coming here and being with other kids. She feels it is a safe place to talk about how she is feeling.” Tony Isch, ACCF grants committee member, noted that the ACCF is pleased to support Erin’s House and their services they provide for young children experiencing these challenges.
This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted funds sponsored by the Robert Eugene & Sandra Butcher and Lions Club, Pleasant Mills Funds.
The Eugene and Sandra Butcher Family Fund represents and remembers Gene and Susie Butcher and their family. Married nearly 55 years, Gene and
Susie had five children: Eugene, Verlin, Karen, Nancy, and Melissa. They had a sincere appreciation for the community that helped raise their family and wished to provide an annual tribute to this community.
The Lions Club in Pleasant Mills Fund represents a once a respected and thriving organization. Over time the Lions Club in Pleasant Mills had reduced meetings and diminishing attendance. The officers wanted to be sure the Lions Club of Pleasant Mills, though disbanded, would continue to provide support for the programs of their mission. This endowed fund will provide support to Adams County and its residents.
