Donald W. Buuck, 72, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on March 5, 1950, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Arnold E. Buuck and the late Dorothy S. (Rebber) Buuck . Donald was united in marriage to Patricia Remy on March 3, 1973, in Massachuse­tts.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged following his service after attaining the rank of Boatswain Mate Petty Officer 3rd Class.

Donald was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church - Friedheim.

He was a lifelong machinist retiring from PHD in Huntington with 18 years of service, retiring in 2016. He was a lifelong Allen County farmer.

Donald was a family man, and loved going to grandkids sporting events. He enjoyed restoring engines, tinkering in his shop, and going to auctions. Farming was in Donald’s blood he enjoyed livestock, and riding horses. Donald and Patricia enjoyed vacationin­g to the East Coast (Cape Cod) and being close to the ocean, near where he was stationed and met his wife Pat.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Patricia Buuck of Hoagland, Indiana; four sons, Robert (Julie) Buuck of Decatur, Indiana; Matthew (Kim) Buuck of Decatur, Indiana, Mark (Ashley) Buuck of Petersburg, Michigan, and Adam (Mindy) Buuck of Decatur, Indiana; two daughters, Jennifer Spangler of Hoagland, Indiana and Karen (Caleb) Chichester of Ossian, Indiana; three brothers, Darrell (Mary Lou) Buuck of Hoagland, Indiana, Dean (Diane) Buuck of Monroevill­e, Indiana, and David (Janice) Buuck of Decatur, Indiana; two sisters, Diana (Daniel) Sullivan of Greenwood, Indiana, and Deborah Nahrwold of New Haven, Indiana; and 12 grandchild­ren, Gregg Buuck, Emma (Marquise) Braddock, Lily Buuck, Lucy Buuck, Elizabeth Buuck, Peyton Buuck, Brylie Buuck, Ryan Buuck, Abby Buuck, Madison Spangler, Mikayla Chichester, and Mason Chichester.

Donald was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Buuck in infancy; and brother-in-law, John Nahrwold.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Zion Evangelica­l Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Pastor Daniel F. Dahling officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim with Military graveside honors being conducted by the American Legion Post #43.

Family and friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Preferred memorials can be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim or donor’s choice.
