Decatur native’s company rises in national rankings

Fort Wayne architectural firm Elevatus, which is headed by Decatur native Cory Miller, is doing very well not just in this area, but also nationally.

The company reports that it rates in these categories amid many others:

— Number 147 among the top 180 architecture businesses.

— Number 21 in the top 80 firms designing public safety buildings.

— Number 35 in the top 50 for creating parking structures.

— Number 99 among the best 115 hotel designers.

— Number 106 in the top 120 for for hospitality buildings.

— Number 140 among the top 160 companies designing schools.

More than 500 firms across the country submitted data which were reviewed for the national report from the Building Design=Construction organization.

The Elevatus announcement said it “prides itself on its wide-ranging set of specialties and services.”

Brett Gauger, a marketing specialist for Elevatus, added, “This just shows we are an important player in the build environment, particularly with architecture. It’s cool to see a Fort Wayne company have that kind of wide range of portfolio work.”

Elevatus has around 40 people on its staff and had $7.6 million in revenue in 2021.

Miller, a Bellmont High School alumnus, said the rising rankings for his firm “add a little bit more validity to our name for those outside the Midwest.”

The company not only is busy in this region, but also has had projects in South Dakota, Oklahoma, and other states.

In Adams County, Elevatus won the contract to design the sheriff’s department and jail site in Decatur, which opened in 2017. The jail can hold almost 190 inmates, far more than the previous jail’s capacity of 65.

Miller summed it up by saying, “in the end, I think it’s about client service. We’ve got some partners we’ve been working with over a decade. I think the way we focus on customer service from beginning to end – and ethics – is really a part of our success.”
