New owner opened Animal Car Wash Monday

The former Andy’s Car Wash at 1033 N. 13th Street, Decatur, officially became the “Animal Car Wash” Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. as new owner Ben Byerline of Leo reopened the business with numerous plans to get the community–especially kids– involved.

Byerline said the name

“Animal Car Wash” comes about because various types of stuffed animals can be located in the tube as the vehicle goes through for a wash.

“We’ll have a lot of promos here such as one for kids where they can get a reward if they find a certain animal inside the car wash,” he said. Byerline said that all kids coming to the automatic wash will receive a prize.

“I’m big on kids, have four of ‘em myself. We want to get involved with in the community with charitable events. If a high school organizati­on is looking to raise funds, we’d be happy to team up with them and do some sort of promo with them,” he stated.

Hours for the Animal Car Wash will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday with the facility being closed on Monday. Byerline noted that he owns just the automatic car wash and that the self-serve area and vacuums are still with the original owner He anticipate­s a staff of five persons along with him will operate the facility and noted “we’re still hiring.”

Area residents will soon see visible changes in the automatic car wash of Byerline’s as the building is going to be repainted in a blue shade and LED lights will be put up to make the establishm­ent more attractive.

There will be a range of car washes available at the Animal Car Wash. Customers will be able to get a good basic car wash for $9 but for $14 they can add wheel bright and underbody wash to the basic wash. All those items plus tire shine can be obtained for $19 while a paste wax is added to those items for $24.
