Police respond to three accidents

Three accidents were investigat­ed by police in Adams County in recent days.

At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Decatur Police Department was called to the intersecti­on of 13th Street and Marshall Street for a two-vehicle crash. A vehicle driven by Laura A. Garwood, 68, Rockford, Ohio, was stopped at the intersecti­on and was preparing to turn left onto Marshall. She told police that traffic in the area blocked her view and she did not see an oncoming southbound car operated by Paula S. Werling, 54, rural Decatur. Garwood turned into the path of the Werling car that had the right of way. Damage to the vehicles was estimated by police at between $10,001-$25,000.

Garwood complained of chest pain at the scene while Werling had elbow and lower arm pain.

At 6:28 p.m. Tuesday, the Adams County Sheriff’s Department went to the scene of a vehicle-deer accident at on U.S. near Woodstone Drive. Roger M. HIbbard, 46, Sprunger Street, Berne, was northbound on the highway when a deer ran onto the road from the west and into the driver’s side of the vehicle. Hibbard complained of elbow pain but declined medical attention at the scene. Damage was placed at $2,501-$5,000 to the vehicle.

On June 3 at 4 p.m., the Berne Police Department probed a two-vehicle mishap on US 27 in front of the Super Wash business. The report said Kim Nguyen, Richmond, was northbound on the highway and had his vehicle struck by one operated by Jimmy Hough, Geneva, as Hough exited the car wash. Neither driver was injured in the crash that resulted in an estimated $5,001-$10,000 in damage.
