Jets split home meet results

Adams Central Boys Swimming ended their week with a 68-62 victory over Coldwater (OH) on Thursday night in Monroe. The girls competitio­n was won by Coldwater, 70-56.

The only diver of the night was Damon Light of Adams Central, who scored a 202.05 on his dives.

Coldwater started the girls competitio­n with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay.

The Adams Central team of Danica Michaels, Ella Bluhm, Kate Moser and Erica Gardenour had to settle for second place with a time of 2:19.79.

The Jets did better in the 200 yard freestyle. Brooke Thomas won by a healthy margin with her time being 2:19.62, nearly 21 seconds ahead of the competitio­n.

The 200 yard IM featured only Kelly May of Coldwater.

Coldwater took first and second in the 50 yard freestyle. Gilbert of Adams Central finished third in the event.

The Cavaliers took top spot in the 100 butterfly, as well. Kate Moser of Adams Central was the runner-up with a time of 1:13.34.

May of Coldwater won the 100 yard freestyle, but Thomas held off Izzy Byer for second.

Keira Knapke from Coldwater won the 500 yard freestyle.

Coldwater finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay event.

Moser and Michaels of Adams Central were second and third, respective­ly, in the 100 backstroke. Moser was only 0.36 seconds off the pace.

Adams Central picked up a victory in the 100 yard breaststro­ke. In what was one of the most dramatic races of the evening, Ella Bluhm beat Lydia Borger by 0.22 seconds.

Gilbert, Michaels, Moser and Thomas won the 400 yard free relay.

The boys 200 medley relay was also won by Coldwater.

In what was a close competitio­n throughout the night, Adams Central picked up their first win of the meet when Logan Clark won by 26 seconds against Noah Obringer of Coldwater in the 200 yard freestyle.

Carson Doenges of Coldwater was the sole competitor in the 200 IM.

Jackson Shoaf of Adams Central swam well in the 50 freestyle, but Carter May won the race with a time of 24.95 seconds.

Coldwater swimmer Eddie Obringer competed alone in the 100 yard butterfly.

The next contested race was the 100 yard freestyle which was one by Doenges of the Cavaliers. Eli Wellman beat Haidynn Meyer for third by 1.2 seconds.

Ethan Crockett from Adams Central swam well in the 500 free, posting a time of 6:47.52, but May finished in first place.

Adams Central picked up a crucial win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Clark gave his team the lead in the first leg, and the Jets held on in the final two legs to win by 4.12 seconds.

Logan Heiman of Adams Central was the runner-up in the 100 yard backstroke.

The Jets had a strong showing in the 100 yard breaststro­ke. Shoaf won the race with a time of 1:19.99. Wellman was 13 seconds ahead of Noah Obringer in the race for second.

Coldwater finished the night with a victory in the 400 yard relay.

After a weekend off, Adams Central will compete in Allen County Athletic Conference action at home on Tuesday night against Bluffton at 5:30 p.m.
