Starfire girls down Bluffton in home meet

The South Adams Starfires split the results of their home swim meet on Thursday with the Bluffton Tigers. The girls won 98-51. 118-48 was the final score for the boys in favor of Bluffton.

KayLynn Grush of South Adams competed alone in girls diving. She finished the event with a score of 136.75.

The Tigers accounted for the only three boy divers to compete.

Bluffton got off to a strong start by winning the girls 200 yard medley relay.

The South Adams boys won their 200 medley relay with a time of 2:01.26. Braylon Schoch, Brayden Hough, Ian Neuenschwa­nder and Haden Meyer defeated three Bluffton teams to place first.

Ava Kinsey was triumphant in the girls 200 yard freestyle. Her time of 2:11.70 gave her a 17.09-second cushion over second-placed Zoey Schmidt of Bluffton.

Graham Linderwell gave the Tiger boys their first win when he won the 200 free.

Hough finished as the runner-up.

In a competitiv­e girls 200 yard IM, Calah Hill beat Bluffton swimmer Anna Zurcher by 2.1 seconds to pick up the win.

Only Bluffton swimmers competed in the boys race in the same event.

GenaMarie Summersett gave South Adams a firstplace finish when she completed the 50 free in 27.85 seconds. Addy Watson earned third place for the Starfires.

South Adams went one-two in the boys 50 free. First place went to Neuenschwa­nder with a time of 26 seconds. Meyer reached the wall 3.1 seconds later to take second place.

Zurcher was the only swimmer to compete in the girls 100 yard butterfly.

The three who took part in the boys 100 butterfly were all from Bluffton.

The next event that South Adams competed in- the girls 100 yard freestyle- was won by Kinsey.

She topped Ellie Coyne by 0.86 seconds to give her team another win. Summersett placed third.

Schoch used a time of 59.21 to outpace three Tigers.

Julia Arnold won the girls 500 yard freestyle by 20.1 seconds. Hill earned third place.

The Starfires won the girls 200 yard freestyle relay. Watson, Hannah Scott, Summersett and Kinsey put together a time of 1:59.93 to win.

Schoch, Hough, Meyer and Neuenschwa­nder were third in the boys 200 free relay.

Arnold and Scott finished first and second, respective­ly, in the girls 100 yard backstroke. Arnold set the pace with a time of 1:19.06. Scott completed her swim 4.76 seconds later.

Neuenschwa­nder earned another win with a time of 1:12.09 in the boys 100 backstroke. Similar to the previous race, South Adams swimmers were first and second. Schoch was the runner-up.

South Adams swimmer Reagan Bollenbach­er finished second in the girls 100 yard breaststro­ke.

Hough was victorious in the boys race, beating out three swimmers from Bluffton.

The final girls event of the night was the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Both entries in the race came from South Adams. Summersett, Scott, Arnold and Kinsey finished first with a mark of 4:40.17.

The Tigers entered the only three teams in the boys 400 free relay.

South Adams will travel to Bellmont next to face the Braves on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Decatur.
