Stoppenhag­en seeking new term as county commission­er

Stan Stoppenhag­en has announced he will be filing his candidacy for re-election for the county commission­er’s position in district 1.

“I am serving in the fourth year as commission­er, my third year as chairman. The board of commission­ers is the legislativ­e body of county government and oversees 27 different department­s to provide services to Adams County residents.

“In addition to weekly board meetings of the commission­ers, I currently sit on the community correction­s board, health board, the IT committee, safety committee, 4-H board, opiod steering committee, newly appointed to the Community Mental Health Center board, council on aging, solid waste committee, Emergency Management Agency, wage review committee, board of finance, JRAC committee, and the Maumee River basin commission.”

Prior to serving as a commission­er, Stoppenhag­en served 10 years as a member of the Adams County Council which is the fiscal body of county government. A key part of that term, he said was that “s a council member we oversaw the financing of the new jail project.”

Prior to that, Stoppenhag­en served as a member of the Root Township Board and also as the Root Township Assessor.

“In my business and work life I was a paramedic with Adams County EMS and worked in sales and design for Arnold Lumber and MR Planners. In 2010 I started a small community developmen­t called Orchard Place across from the old Southeast School. I still manage and maintain these villas for lease.”

Stoppenhag­en concluded his remarks noting “I look forward to serving the residents of Adams County efficientl­y and productive­ly with a comprehens­ive view of the future of Adams County.”
