Candidate biographies

STEVE KUHN
Steve Kuhn officially declared his candidacy a new term as Third District County Commissioner representing the Republican Party.
Kuhn said he brings a wealth of experience and a vision for a thriving Adams County with a track record of dedication and a passion for community betterment.
His campaign will focus on issues vital to the region’s prosperity, fostering unity, and advancing policies that reflect the values of the community.
As an advocate for transparent governance, economic growth, and community well- being, Kuhn invites Adams County residents to join him on this journey towards a brighter future.
TOM KRUECKEBERG
Thomas R. Krueckeberg of Decatur, has announced his candidacy for re-election, for Adams County Recorder on the Republican ticket.
Krueckeberg, who is the current Recorder, has served as President of the Indiana Recorders Association and is in the process of scanning and indexing all past books and records. By doing so, all documents will be accessible on-line and backed up from 1836 to present.
His experience in the fields of accounting, finance, management, budgets, and fiscal demands along with his four years on County Council, will continue to help him make the sound and fiscal decisions for Adams County.
Krueckeberg currently serves on the State Board of Association of Indiana Counties, which he has served for the past six years. He has also served as the Indiana County Treasurer’s Association President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary and was voted 2019 and 2020 Indiana County Treasurer of the year.
Past local boards and organizations he has participated with are, Adams County Council, Adams County Solid Waste, Decatur Board of Zoning Appeals, Decatur Plan Commission, Adams County Wages Appeals, Adams County Health Board, Adams County Boy and Girls Club, and Decatur Optimist Club. He is also a past member of the Adams County Sheriff Reserves.
Krueckeberg is a graduate of Indiana Tech and holds a Bachelors degree in management; he is also a graduate of Bellmont High School. He and his wife of 35 years, Lisa (Garner), have one daughter; Katie. They are lifelong residents of Adams County and members of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur. Besides spending time with family, for recreation Krueckeberg enjoys being a member of the Cross Creek Men’s Golf Association.
CATHY MITCHEL
Cathy A. Mitchel of Geneva has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Adams County Council as one of the three At-Large positions.
Mitchel noted she has 12 years of experience with local, county, and state government. She worked for the Geneva Clerk-Treasurer’s office preparing budgets and reconciling town ledgers. She was also a deputy in the Auditor’s office where she oversaw payroll, insurance, took minutes for the Commissioner and Council meetings, and assisted with bookkeeping. Later she was the manager and curator of the Gene Stratton Porter property and oversaw its state budget.
She was also a secretary in the Geneva Middle School and is a member of the Geneva Republicans.
Mitchel is married to Arlen Mitchel, a retired farmer, past county commissioner, and current Geneva Town Councilman. They own and operate Hoosier Que Daddy BBQ.
She concluded by noting “I believe I have the experience and knowledge to serve four more years on the County Council.”
