Bellmont Middle gearing up for spring sports

- Matthew Klingenberger Sports Reporter Decatur Daily Democrat

With winter sports winding down, the focus for many athletes, coaches and administrators can now turn to the upcoming spring season.

For both track and field athletes as well as soccer players at Bellmont Middle School, preparations for the 2024 campaign will start early next month.

Both programs will conduct their first practices on Monday, March 11th. Practice for the boys and girls track and field program will start at 3:15 p.m. that day and conclude at 4:45.

Boys soccer will hold a two-hour practice beginning at 3:15. The girls will practice for the same amount of time starting at 5:15.

Track and field participants will meet in the main gym at the middle school. They will need to be dressed for the weather and have their own water bottle.

Depending on the weather, the practice sessions for soccer may be conducted indoors. An indoor practice would require each player to have gym shoes. Proper clothing would be needed if the training takes place outside on the field.

Soccer players will need their own soccer ball, shin guards and cleats and at least one filled water bottle.

All physicals, waivers and medical forms are required to be turned in to the Bellmont Middle School Office. The forms can be turned in between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Student-athletes are advised not to bring their eligibility forms to practice. Players will not be allowed to participate until their forms have been submitted.

Anybody with questions about track and field can either contact Randy Hisner or Justin Ayres, the co-head coaches of the team.
