-

The Decatur Police Department investigated three accidents on Thursday but reported no injuries were sustained in any of the mishaps.

At 2:40 a.m., two vehicles collided on US 27 near CR 500 N. Police said Elizabeth A. Blume, 48, rural Decatur, was exiting from a nearby business onto the south lane of US 27 after being waved on by another vehicle on the road. She continued to go from the right into the left lane of the highway but failed to see a truck headed south in the left lane driven by Steven R. Jones, Jr., 37, Payne, Ohio, and collided with the truck despite Jones’ attempt to avoid the crash. Damage to the vehicles was set at between $5,001-$10,000 to the vehicles.

At 1:10 p.m., a two-car collision at Monroe and Fifth Street occurred. Police said Jacob C. McAfee, 26, rural Bluffton, was westbound on Monroe Street and looked away from the road momentarily as he dropped something on the floor board. As he reached to pick it up, he struck the rear end of another vehicle driven by Victoria L. Thomas, 53, Ossian. Thomas told police she had started to slow down for another vehicle in front of her prior to the crash that caused an estimated damage of $5,001-$10,000.

At 1:15 p.m., another rear-end collision two block away from the 1:10 p.m. accident on Monroe Street near N. Third Street. Both Abby R. Green, 19, Van Wert, Ohio, and Cheryl C. Wallace, 66, Van Wert, Ohio, were eastbound and stopped for a red light. Once traffic started again after the light on Monroe Street turned green, Green said a semi braked suddenly causing her to do the same and she was able to avoid hitting the semi. Her vehicle was then struck in the rear by the Wallace SUV causing between $2,501-$5,000 in damage.
