Deer Park senior Cole Krepcik returns seeking a third consecutiv­e all- league selection.

The Deer Park baseball team has battled mother nature to get on the field so far this spring as the quest for a third consecutiv­e district crown begins Wednesday at Shadle Park, weather permitting.

Cole Krepcik, senior shortstop and pitcher recently committed to The Community Colleges Of Spokane baseball program after his final season in Stag blue and gold.

In two seasons (no season due to COVID in 2020), the right hander has hit .458, with an on base percentage of .551 and slugging percentage of .645. Last season ended in the state quarter- finals with a 1- 0 loss to University Prep. In the opening round, Krepcik delivered perhaps the most memorable hit in program history when he delivered a run scoring double for a 2- 1 nine- inning win against Overlake/ Bear Creek.

Three juniors return for fifth year head coach Darren Snyder's squad with all- league credential­s from the 2022 campaign, all being three year varsity squad members. Teagen Tobeck, third base, along with outfielder Trevor Shupe and catcher Braylon Dean, who got the all league nod at designated hitter look for another state playoff run.

Following the opener at Shadle Park, two more matchups against class 2A foes are on tap. Monday the 20th the Stags face Central Washington Athletic Conference opponent in a 2: 30 matchup at Merkel Field on the campus of Whitworth University. The first appearance on the home diamond, Dave Franklin Field at Deer Park High School is on the 23rd against Greater Spokane League 2A member rogers at 4: 00.
