Engines appear to be revving up for production on Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s next movie, which is set to be made in Detroit.

“Kill Switch,” a 1950s crime drama that takes place in the Motor City, is reportedly filming soon in Detroit — and the search is on for vintage cars to create an appropriate retro look.

Three stars of the “Avengers” franchise — Josh Brolin, Don Cheadle and Sebastian Stan — are in talks to head the cast of the project, according to Collider.

Shooting is expected to begin sometime around late April or early May, and the production’s transportation coordinator is seeking cars from the 1950s — specifically 1955 or older — to be used in backdrops and key scenes.

“We’ll be filming in downtown Detroit, so we’ll have city blocks we want to replicate for the 1950s,” says Shane Greedy, who has

worked on many Soderbergh projects including “Magic Mike” and “Logan Lucky.”

The film will need to use parked cars and have some vehicles drive down streets to simulate 1950s traffic.

Greedy says he’s also seeking “hero cars,” the term for automobiles used by characters in a film that are featured in multiple scenes.

“Kill Switch” will be scripted by screenwriter Ed Solomon, who also co-wrote the cult hit “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and collaborated with Soderbergh on the upcoming “Bill & Ted Face the Music.” Solomon co-wrote the script for that sequel, for which Soderbergh is an executive producer.

The actors in discussions for “Kill Switch” appeared recently in the 2019 global blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame.” Brolin played the villain Thanos, while Cheadle and Stan were their regular characters in the franchise epic, James “Rhodey” Rhodes (aka War Machine) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), respectively.
