Lap up favorite libations at Drinking with Dogs events

- Susan Selasky

Canine to Five, a dog day care and boarding facility in Detroit, is back again this year with its Drinking with Dogs gathering Tuesday.

It’s the first of a half-dozen events in the works for summer. The first one takes place at The Skip, located in downtown Detroit’s Belt Alley between Broadway and Library Street linking Gratiot and Grand River.

Drinking with Dogs takes place at local bars. The events are a way to enjoy the outdoors with your pooch along with a cocktail or other beverage.

“We are so excited to start this summer tradition for our four-legged friends and their owners at The Skip. It is one of our largest parties every year,” Liz Blondy, owner of Canine to Five, said in a news release. “Our events are a great chance for dog lovers to get together and meet new people.”

Canine to Five has a new location in Commerce

and will partner with Michigan Humane to host a Drinking with Dogs event in June.

The series goes through the summer and ends in October with a Halloween costume contest at a date to be determined.

Upcoming 2022 Drinking and Dogs events are:

June 15: Hammer & Nail, 3800 Woodward Ave, Detroit

June 23: Commerce Public House (in conjunction with Michigan Humane), 2215 Haggerty Rd., Commerce

July 26: The Congregation, 9321 Rosa Parks Blvd., Detroit

Aug. 16: Old Miami, 3930 Cass, Detroit Sept. 21: Detroit City Distillery, 2462 Riopelle, Eastern Market
