With temperatures unseasonably in the 90s, the Fenway Park organist had a sense of humor before the first pitch Sunday, playing ‘Let it Snow!’ and a few songs later adding ‘I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.’
Padres: SS Fernando Tatis Jr. will meet the rest of the team in San Diego on Monday, although the target date for his return off the 60-day Injured List remains late June. Tatis has not played this season after arriving at spring training with a broken left wrist.
Yankees: RHP Chad Green, long one of the Yankees’ top setup men, will undergo Tommy John surgery. Green was hurt while pitching against Baltimore on Thursday night.
Pirates: SS Kevin Newman had a setback while rehabbing a left groin strain with Triple-A Indianapolis. The new injury is in the hamstring area, general manager Ben Cherington said.
Phillies: OF Mickey Moniak was scheduled to have a second rehab assignment start for Class A Clearwater on Sunday before getting transferred to Double A Reading to continue his ramp up following a broken right hand suffered at the end of spring training.
Angels: AL batting leader Taylor Ward missed his second straight game Sunday after running into the wall Friday and incurring a stinger.
Astros: RHP Lance McCullers Jr., who has been out all season with a strained flexor tendon in his pitching arm, threw off the mound Sunday for the first time since he was injured during the playoffs last season.
Nationals: Pitchers Stephen Strasburg and Joe Ross will begin rehab assignments Tuesday. Ross will pitch for Double-A Harrisburg and Strasburg will join Class A Fredericksburg.
Cubs: C Willson Contreras (right hamstring) is day to day after he left Saturday’s 7-6 loss to the Diamondbacks in the third inning.
