Friday’s games

Brooklyn 120, Atlanta 116: Kevin Durant scored 34 points, Kyrie Irving had 33 points and 11 rebounds as the host Nets finished a seven-game homestand at 6-1.

TJ Warren added 14 points and Ben Simmons returned from a four-game absence with a left calf strain with six points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Nets won for the ninth time in 12 games overall.

They hadn’t played seven straight home games since moving to Brooklyn a decade ago and they took advantage, losing only to the NBA-leading Boston Celtics while surging into fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Trae Young had 33 points and nine assists for the Hawks, while Bogdan Bogdanovic rebounded from a miserable game at the Knicks two nights earlier with 31 points.

Clint Capela had 15 points and 11 rebounds, but the Hawks dropped their third straight while playing without injured starters John Collins, De’Andre Hunter and Dejounte Murray.

Durant scored 18 points in the first quarter, but the Nets had to rally after the Hawks came back to take the lead in the fourth. Durant’s 3pointer with 3:17 to play gave Brooklyn back the lead for good and he finished the scoring with two free throws with 6.3 seconds remaining.

Indiana 121, Washington 111: Buddy Hield scored a season-high 28 points, Tyrese Haliburton had 23 points and 11 assists for the host Pacers.

Bennedict Mathurin added 18 points, Oshae Brissett 16 and Myles Turner 14.

Kristaps Porzingis led Washington with 29 points on 11-of-13 shooting. He had 20 points in the first half, hitting nine shots without a miss. Kyle Kuzma added 27 points, and Jordan Goodwin had 19.

The Wizards have lost five games in a row and eight of their last nine. The Pacers lead the season series 2-1 with a game remaining Feb. 11 at Washington.

After a first half with 14 lead changes, the Pacers led 69-65 at halftime. The Pacers and Wizards shot well in the first half with Indiana at 65% and Washington at 64.3%. For the game, Washington shot 53.2% and Indiana 51.2%.

New York 121, Charlotte 102: Julius Randle scored 33 points, RJ Barrett added 26 as the visiting Knicks won their third straight.

Jalen Brunson had 11 points and 11 assists for the Knicks, who evened their record at 13-13.

The Knicks (13-13) dominated the offensive glass, scoring 28 second-chance points to send the Hornets to their fourth straight loss.

Terry Rozier scored 24 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 22 points on his 27th birthday, the seventh straight game both players have scored at least 20 points in a game for the short-handed Hornets, who lack scoring options.

Charlotte (7-19) was 6 of 26 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Orlando 113, Toronto 109: Franz Wagner scored 34 points and the host Magic turned to rookie Pablo Banchero in the final minutes to hold off Toronto after the Raptors had wiped out a 20-point deficit in the second half.

Banchero finished with 23 points and six rebounds for the Magic, who have won two straight for only the second time this season.

Pascal Siakam had 36 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Raptors. Gary Trent Jr. added 20 points and Fred VanVleet had 19.

Wagner scored 14 points in a span of 3:33 in the first half, helping Orlando build a 14-point lead.

Behind the shooting of Trent (5-for-5, including three 3s), the Raptors erased that deficit quickly, but Banchero scored Orlando’s final seven points of the half and the Magic led 67-63 at the break.
