- Cameron Burnham Duncan passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023. Duncan, 82, was President of Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts and produced the Detroit Jazz Fest from 2001 - 2006. He continued on as Trustee Treasurer and Advisor to the President until his death. The administra­tive offices are named in his honor.

Sandy’s contributi­ons to Detroit’s cultural community are profound. His nonprofit credential­s include serving as Treasurer of the Detroit Opera, General Manager of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and President of The Parade Co. in 1991. Duncan also has worked with the YWCA of Southeaste­rn Michigan, Motown Museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

In 1983 and into the mid-1990s, Duncan assisted with the restoratio­n of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in New York City with a series of business planning, budget and technical financing chores for the Foundation.

Born in 1941 and raised in New Jersey, Sandy went on to graduate from Dartmouth University in 1963. After receiving his MBA from Indiana University in 1965, Sandy served his country as an officer in Vietnam.

In 1970, Sandy Duncan moved to Detroit where he began his illustriou­s 32-year career at Deloitte & Touche serving such high-profile clients as The Stroh Brewery Co., Comerica Bank, General Motors, Argonaut Relocation Services and Chrysler Corp.

He is survived by his brother Robert Duncan of Pittsboro, Indiana, his companion Randy Lee and an extended family of nieces Christina S. Duncan-Flory, Mary V Walters, Andrew R Duncan and 8 grandniece­s and grandnephe­ws.
