- Terry George Walker, age 77, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023. Terry was the beloved husband of Marja Christina Hart for 53 years, dear father of Marlo (Lee) Vitous, Tammy (Scott) Posner and loving grandfather of Jack Terry, Ella Victoria, Reese Hart and Olivia Ann. He is also survived by his brother David (Carol) Walker, in-laws, nieces, nephews and godson, Adam Walker. Born to Joan & Stanley Walker on November 3, 1946, in Pontiac, Michigan, they precede him in death along with his late sister, Janis Boisvert.

A graduate of Detroit Cass Technical High School, Terry earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in May 1975. An entire career in the automotive industry, he started with Ford Motor Company in October of 1976, in Norfolk, Virginia. In the 80’s he became a Plant Manager within the Volvo Car Corporation in Chesapeake, Virginia for the Articulated Bus Division. In 1985 he went back to work for Ford Motor Company in Michigan. He was part of the launch team in the Body Shop for the Ford Aerostar, traveling to St. Louis, Missouri, and led the launch in the Body Shop of the Ford Expedition at Michigan Truck Plant. A recipient of the Henry Ford Technology award he dedicated 30 total years to The Ford Motor Company.

An avid sports fan, Terry grew up listening to The Detroit Red Wings on the radio and later cheered them to Stanley Cup Championships with his season tickets at Joe Louis Arena. Quite the outdoorsman, there wasn’t any wild place that Terry couldn’t feel at home. He used his engineering fix it skills to help anyone with any house project and had his daughters as his assistants. Terry loved his family and grandchildren. When he retired, he enjoyed all of Jack and Reese’s soccer games and even attended all of Jack’s soccer practices. He also enjoyed the school concerts and dance recitals of Ella and Olivia. Any event the grandchildren had; he was there! A lover of animals, his family fondly remembers the bonds he shared with his dogs JT, Energy, Velocity, Mass and grand-dogs Mattie and Stella.

Terry will be missed because he had a sense of humor that made every event enjoyable. Everyone that knew him has a memory and story to tell that makes them laugh. The immediate family is planning a celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rochester Leader Dogs for the Blind organization.
