John Bennett
John C. Bennett, age 84, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away at home, surrounded by friends and family, on January 27, 2024. He was the beloved husband to the late Janet Klump. John is survived by Dean and Robin Bennett and Holly and David Zecchin. He is the cherished grandfather to Jacob Bennett, Jonathan Mowinski, Michael Mowinski and Michelle VanSullen. John grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and graduated from Grosse Pointe High in 1957. He received a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan studying Mechanical Engineering. He spent his professional career in various engineering fields including automotive with White Motors and Auto City Sheet Metal, and later in marine construction with his own companies, Holly Boat Hoist and General Marine Service Corp. John enjoyed boating and has been an active member of the Grosse Pointe Power Squadron for many years. John was also an avid snow skier and served on the National Ski Patrol 45 years, patrolling at Alpine Valley Ski Area in White Lake, Michigan. Recently, John has been a proud member of the Lakeshore Strummers Ukulele Club of St Clair Shores, Michigan. Family will receive friends to celebrate John’s life on Friday February 16, 2024, at 11:00am at Lake Shore Church 27801 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
