36 die in Pakistan as rains collapse buildings, trigger landslides

PESHAWAR, Pakistan – Heavy rains that swept across Pakistan have left at least 36 people dead and 50 others injured, collapsed houses and triggered landslides that blocked roads, particular­ly in the northwest, authoritie­s said Sunday.

Mostly women and children were among 30 people who died in the rain-related incidents in the scenic Swat Valley, the Khyber district and elsewhere in the Khyber Pakhtunkhw­a province bordering Afghanista­n since Thursday night, the provincial disaster management authority said.
