The Boss versus the Box
M2 Machines ’70 Mustang Boss 429 and ’57 Chevy 150 Post Sedan
1:24 | $25 ea. (est.)
We know M2 best for its 1:64 range of muscle cars, classics, hot rods, trucks, and even an expanding range of imports. But the company does quite a bit at 1:24 too, and two new pieces have just come out that target different segments of the collector audience. The 1957 Chevy, with the vintage-look “Holley Carburetor Co.” logo on the door, is part of the Ground Pounders line and has been customized with blacked-out windows, oversized 5-spoke wheels and tires, and subtle adjustments to the overall profile, which give it a bit of an exaggerated, stylized hot-rod look. The hood opens to reveal a small block treated to some dress-up parts, and we bet there’s a Holley carb sitting under that chrome air cleaner. The ’70 Boss is a more literal interpretation, with the proportions more authentic to the factory Mustang shape. The doors receive a “Thumpr Cams” logo and the Boss has some strip-appropriate slicks in back and skinnies up front, but the body and engine look stock. In addition to the mass-market versions, both cars have chase versions, with alternate-color wheels and chrome bits, and are limited to just 500 pieces. The chase Mustang (shown) gets a red-chrome grille and wheels.
