UH-1 HUEY “SLICK”— Item no. CS-01007; $296

-

“Slick” is the nickname given to a strippeddown trooptransport variant of the Huey. In order to be able to carry the maximum number of soldiers into battle, the side pylons and extra equipment were removed to save weight. The only remaining weapon was the doormounted M60D 7.62mm machine gun. This model depicts that Slick configuration and carries insignia for the U.S. Army Air Cavalry: specifically, the 1st Cavalry, Charlie Troop, with the crew’s slogan “Death Before Dishonor” on the nose. It appears to be in UH1H configuration, with the elongated cabin (denoted by the two windows in the sliding side door) and the uprated 1400 shafthorsepower Lycoming engine, which was assigned to Air Cav units starting about 1967. The model comes with a twoperson crew up front in the cockpit, and the cabin is outfitted for squad transport so more figures can be added, like in the photo to the left. Like each model in the series, it features realistic weathering in addition to truly impressive surface textures, panel lines, and even rivets.
